Emilio DiPretoro
Emilio DiPretoro grew up in Huntington Valley, Pa., just outside of Philadelphia. Emilio attended college in the Poconos of Pennsylvania at East Stroudsburg University, where he earned a Bachelors degree in Exercise Physiology and a Masters degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology with an emphasis in Cardiac Rehabilitation. At that time, he held the highest level of certification for an Exercise Physiologist, through the American College of Sports Medicine, as a “Clinical Exercise Specialist”. His professional experience ranges from serving as a program director of cardiac rehabilitation, to his current position as an independent spine consultant to neurosurgeons and orthopedic spine surgeons, in the Rocky Mountain region.
Emilio started doing CrossFit in 2006, following a conversation with his brother-in-law who had been a Navy SEAL for nearly twenty years. ”My brother-in-law told me about how some of the SEAL Teams were using CrossFit as part of their training regimen. This was my first exposure to CrossFit, and looking back now, I had no idea how this conversation would positively impact my life and the lives of many people around me.”
At that time Emilio finished his first Leadvile 50 mountain bike race and was looking for a way to improve his times. He knew that with two young children and a busy career, greatly increasing his training time and spending many more hours on the bike was not an option. Therefore, he decided to try CrossFit for one year in addition to mountain bike training. He improved his race time by 45 minutes the following year and by the third year he had shaved almost 2 hours off his original time.
Emilio attributes this success to building a foundation (volume) on the bike over time, and by doing CrossFit 3-4 days per week. The result was he was able to tolerate a super high ventilation rate for longer periods of time at high altitude.
Emilio has lived in Colorado since 1996 and now resides in Stapleton with his wife and co-owner, Nicolle, along with their 2 daughters. They love the Stapleton area and have many friends in the neighborhood. As they see it, CrossFit Stapleton is their opportunity to give something valuable back to their friends, neighbors and residents of Stapleton.”

What does “Success” look like to me?
From my perspective , success is creating a life that allows me to utilize my strengths and knowledge. My vision of success involves working with like minded people to achieve a common goal. A successful career dovetails nicely into the balanced lifestyle that I want to live. I define and measure success as the ability to spend time with my family, having time to train and exercise daily, while feeling enthusiastic, energetic and PASSIONATE about my business and my life. Continued growth professionally and spiritually also is a big part of how I define success for myself! – written in August 2008 -Emilio D.
How about you?
