10 ATHLETES TO WATCH IN 2016

With hundreds of thousands of athletes entered into the 2016 Reebok CrossFit Games Open, it can be hard to choose who to follow.

Here are 10 athletes on my shortlist. They run the gamut from Teenagers to Masters athletes, and top Games veterans to newer athletes who will likely opt for the scaled version of the week’s workout. I’m going to be watching all of them closely for the next five weeks.

CROSSFIT CLASSES: 

Performance-

A. Every 2 minutes, for 20 minutes (10 sets):
Snatch x 1 rep

Suggested loading per set (by %): 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 90+, 95, 95+

B. Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 6 minutes of:
6 Snatches (155/105 lbs)
30 Double-Unders

Fitness-

A. Every minute, on the minute, for 21 minutes:
Minute 1 – Bulgarian Goat Bag Swings x 8 reps @ 2011
Minute 2 – Supine Leg Curl with Med Ball x 8 reps
Minute 3 – Tempo Push-Ups x 10-12 reps @ 1111

B. Complete as many reps as possible in 6 minutes of:
12 Alternating Single-Arm DB Snatches
24 Jumping Lunges

A. Three rounds for time of:
10 Strict Handstand Push-Ups
15 Chest-to-Bar Pull-Ups
20 Alternating Pistols

40-Foot Backward Straddle Scoot 

B. Three sets of:
Tuck Rock to Tuck Sit x 15 reps
Rest 60 seconds

followed by…

Bottom Balance Complex x 60 seconds

A. 10min AMRAP:

12 DB push-presses

24 alternating jumping lunges

12 burpees

B. 3 rounds for time:

800m run

25ft OH walking lunge (use a plate)

20 Pull-ups (sub= ring rows)
